Ward D

By Frida McFadden

Book Rating: 5 out of 5 boozy stars

Ward D is Freida McFadden's most recent novel that I was anxiously waiting to read. The novel follows medical student, Amy Brenner, as she prepares to complete a rotation in the hospital's in-patient mental health unit, Ward D. Amy is terrified at the idea of spending 12 hours locked in Ward D and is already counting down the hours until her rotation in the unit is over.

Ward D is a page turner that kept me on the edge of my seat. This novel is truly packed with twists. Out of all of the Freida McFadden novels I have read so far this year, Ward D may have featured the most twists. Freida is the reigning queen of the Thriller/Suspense category because she writes the best plot twists and knows how to tell a story that keeps her readers hooked.

Freida pulled out all of the stops when she wrote Ward D. She truly thought of everything and executed the writing so well too. Amy is a well written main character who is also an unreliable narrator, which really serves to leave you guessing from page one until the very end. You never know who to trust or what to believe...

Ward D is one of my favorite books that I have read from Freida McFadden. If you are looking for a suspenseful book that will leave your heartbeat racing and your jaw on the floor, read Ward D.

You're probably thinking, "Taylor, why are you pairing this sweet, fruity drink with a dark, psychological thriller?" My response to that is, "Read the book and you will see why!" This sweet, but strong drink features strawberry jam, which is the first thing I thought of when thinking of a drink to pair with this novel.

For best results, use homemade jam! My best friend makes the best homemade strawberry jam and it was the perfect match for this drink. Thanks, Kyra Jean!
